McGowan takes title honors for Bowlodrome scratch tournament
GREENE – Greg McGowan defeated Paul Sims in the championship match to capture the 2018 Greene Bowlodrome Scratch House Tournament Saturday, March 31.
A field of Twenty-two bowlers competed in the opening round of the tournament for a chance at one of the five places to compete for the title. The tournament contests that moved on to the position rounds were Jim Milk (fifth), Matt Carr (fourth), Russ Williamson (third), Greg McGowan (second) and Paul Sims (first).
Carr and Milk squared off in the first match of the bracket play. Either had to win four games in order to be crowned champion. With a final score of 256-216, Carr beat Milk and started his four game run.
In the next match, Carr then took on Williamson. Coming down to a difference of six pins, Carr added his second win in his journey through the placing rounds by topping Williamson 227-221.
It was then time for McGowan to get his shot at ending Carr’s run. Again, it was six pins seperating the match winner. This game, however, went in favor of McGowan instead of Carr, 216-210.
