NHS After Prom Committee thanks community ahead of Wednesday's fundraiser
NORWICH – In celebration of 16 years of successfully coordinating the Norwich High School After Prom Party, organizers are offering their gratitude to the community for helping drive the after party every year with their donations as the 17th after prom party approaches on May 19.
The NHS After Prom Committee is spearheaded by NHS staff and parents who aim to provide a safe, fun, substance-free destination to students after the junior prom.
"These last 16 after prom parties would not have been possible without the community's support," said NHS After Prom coordinator Kelly Collins-Colosi, who noted that the NHS After Prom Party is the longest standing after prom tradition in the county.
In gearing up for the 2018 NHS After Prom Party set to take place at the Norwich Family YMCA following the junior prom on May 19, the NHS After Prom Committee has organized a Paddle Party Fundraiser to take place at Norwich High School on Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m.
For a $5 admissions fee, attendees at the Paddle Party Fundraiser will be given two paddles and will be able to use quarters to bid on a wide variety of community donated baskets, some with values of up to $250.
NHS After Prom coordinator Kristen Mills said prizes will include a basket with Under Armour attire, gift cards to local restaurants and businesses, and many more. Mills said additional paddles can be purchased for $1 apiece after the $5 admission fee, and she advised attendees to bring quarters to the event.
If you would like to support the NHS After Prom Party but are unable to attend Wednesday's fundraiser, donations can be sent to the Norwich High School SADD Chapter, Attn: Kelly Collins-Colosi, 89 Midland Drive, Norwich, NY 13815. Organizers ask that you indicate your donation if specifically for the after prom party.
For more information, contact Collins-Colosi at (607) 334-1600 ext. 1237.
