Norwich Theater to host international film festival
NORWICH – The Martin W. Kappel Theater in the Chenango Arts Council will play venue to an international film festival on September 7, 8, and 9, event organizers announced.
The first Twin Tiers International Film Festival will take place at the Kappel Theater this September, as filmmakers from across the globe have already submitted over 100 films that will be judged and selected for screening at the event.
Festival director Christopher Pike said, “The response from the filmmakers and local community has been tremendous. I have been absolutely blown away by the amount of support we have received, both from our sponsors and the filmmakers, especially being so new and so fresh.”
Filmmakers can submit their films until July 25, either online at www.filmfreeway.com or by mail. “The plan is to screen as many films as possible across the 3-day festival,” reads a release from Twin Tiers International Film Festival. Both feature films and short films will be accepted.
On September 9, special celebrity guest Jon Donahue will present the festival’s awards. Donahue is a former WBNG-TV reporter turned actor who has gone on to play roles in major motion pictures like “The Post,” “Bridge of Spies,” and “Inferno.”
Another event in the festival will take place on September 8 as media arts professor at Ithaca College Jack Bryant will host a screenwriter’s workshop.
