Tornado track and field dominates Warriors at home

NORWICH – In Tuesday’s meet against Chenango Valley, Norwich the Norwich girls and boys track and field teams dominated, winning most of the events throughout the afternoon.
The Girls lost just three events to the Lady Warriors; the 100 meter hurdles, the high jump and the pole fault.
Nicole Jeffrey scored the Tornado first place points in the 800, 1500 and 3000 meter races as well as being a part of the 4x800 meter relay.

Riley Marsh of the Lady Purple took home first place finished in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. Marsh, a usual competitor in the hurdling event, tackled the sprinting duties for the Lady Tornado Tuesday afternoon and raced them like a seasoned vet.
Her hurdling teammate Katie Gawronski crossed the finish line first in the 400 meter event with a time of 1:10.6. Gawronski joined Haley Colabelli, Delilah Geislinger and Mikalunas to defeat the field in the 4x400 meter relay.
Colabelli and Geislinger teamed up for the 4x100 relay with Emily Shattuck and Caroline Stewart, placing first as a group.
Colabelli, Stewart and Shattuck all captured first place finishes in their individual events they participated in.

The Lady Tornado tallied 97 points for the home meet win. Their teammates on the boys side topped the visiting Warrior athletes with a score of 117-30. The Norwich boys secured first place in all but the 100 meter hurdles and the pole vault.
Norwich sprinter Eric Conant shine, winning the top spot in every event he participated in. His first event of the afternoon was the 100 meter dash. With a time of 11.2 seconds, a time he has averaged this season, Conant crossed well before any other runner in the race.
Conant also finished first in the 200 meter dash and the long jump. He teamed up with David Berger, Zack Race and Scott Tomanocy for a 4x100 meter relay and took the event with a time of 43.7 seconds, beating their time from the Quinney Invite in Sidney by nearly a second. The group set the meet record Saturday with a time of 44.65.
Tomanocy used a time of 54.5 seconds to capture first place points for the Purple in the 400 meter dash.
