Relay for Life: Paint the County Purple on Tuesday
CHENANGO COUNTY – The 2018 season for Relay for Life of Chenango County will be officially underway on Tuesday as organizers are encouraging county residents to Paint the County Purple.
"Paint the County Purple is Chenango County's annual recognition of all forms of cancer," said Relay for Life Chairwoman Lynne Robertson.
"Purple is considered the generic color for cancer, and usually the event paints a town purple for the day. However, since we are a county event, we Paint the county purple. We encourage anyone to go purple for the day."
In honor of the county wide observance, several restaurants throughout Chenango will be putting out purple napkins and placemats, balloons, and other purple decor to honor the official beginning of the 2018 Relay for Life of Chenango County.
In addition to donning their finest purple outfit, Relay organizers are asking participants to take pictures of their decor and submit them to relay.chenango@gmail.com.
