Lady Tornado comes up one run short against Seton Catholic Saints

BINGHAMTON – Seton took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth and held on against the Lady Tornado for the win Friday afternoon.

The Saints took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second but Norwich quickly answered in the third. Parker Walsh started the Purple Tornado rally when she singled to center. One pitch later, teammate Morgan Conkling singled to left field, sending Walsh to second.

On a passed ball, both runners advanced, leaving Norwich with two in scoring position for the Purple's Payten Seiler.

Seiler saw her ball end up in right field on the fourth pitch of the at-bat, scoring both Walsh and Conkling to tie the game at 2-2. Seiler picked up two RBI's on the hit

In the fourth, three singles by Saints batters led to Seton taking the lead back, ultimately turning into the game winning run.

Norwich's Alex Colley pitched the full six innings, striking out 15 Saints while allowing six hits and just one earned run.

Her opposition in the circle was Seton's Claire Loughlin who pitched a complete game, giving up six hits. Loughlin was only able to strike out two Tornado batters. She gave the Saints the winning bid when she singled in the fifth sending one across the plate for the 3-2 lead.

Walsh and Seiler went 2-for-3 in their at-bats for the game while Conkling and Olivia Granquist each added a hit for the Purple.

Seton's Alina Galyon was the lone Saint with two hits for the game.

Norwich travels to Chenango Forks Monday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Harpursville 29, Unadilla Valley 13

NEW BERLIN – Another high scoring affair for the Lady Storm of Unadilla Valley ended in a loss Friday afternoon as they fell to the Lady Hornets of Harpursville, 29-13.

Harpursville scored five in the first two innings before their big 12-run third, making the score 18-2.

In the bottom of the inning, UV responded with a seven run rally to cut the lead down to nine runs. And with the way the Storm's offense has been producing lately, the lead was obtainable for the home to erase completely.

Over the next two inning, Unadilla Valley's defense stepped up to hold Harpursville to just one run. Their offense continued to chip away at the lead, adding four runs.

In the sixth inning however, Harpursville added another eight runs in their at-bats and shut down the Storm's batters in the bottom of the inning. Tacking on two more in the top of the seventh, the Hornets took the win due to the mercy rule.

Regan Sabines of Unadilla Valley sent a shot to left field, deep enough for her to score Emily Hill and Mia Stirone before crossing the plate for herself for inside the park home run. Her teammate Meegan White hit a line drive to deep center field to record the second home run of the game for the Storm.

Kristen White went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while Jenna Hitt and Stirone also had three hits in the game. Hitt picked up four RBIs and Meegan White recorded two as well.

UV is hoping for win with their high scoring offense against Sidney on Monday. The game will be in New Berlin and is expected to start at 4:30 p.m.
