Chenango schools budget and election results

CHENANGO COUNTY – Chenango County residents voted on school district budgets and school board elections on Tuesday. The results are listed below.

Norwich City School District

NCSD residents voted to pass the district's $42.1 million budget with roughly 70 percent in favor by a vote of 671 to 280. The Guernsey Memorial Library budget was passed as well by a vote of 651 to 296, along with the district's bus proposition which passed by a vote of 679 to 262.

School board candidates Brian Burton, Brian Reid, and Jamie Maistros were elected to the three open seats on the board of education, beating out candidates Herb Ryan and Jennifer Collins. Burton received 659 votes, Reid 624 votes, Maistros 539 votes, Ryan 397 votes, and Collins 407 votes.

Unadilla Valley School District

UVCSD residents voted to pass the district's $20.2 millions budget with about 76 percent in favor by a vote of 137 to 44. Voters approved the district's bus lease proposition by a vote of 150 to 32, and also passed the proposition to fund the New Berlin Library by a vote of 82 to 22.

School board incumbents Carrie Meade and Mark Davis, each running unopposed, were re-elected to the board of education after receiving 155 votes and 154 votes respectively.

Oxford Academy & Central School District

Oxford residents voted to pass the district's $20 million budget with 82 percent in favor by a vote of 151 to 33. The Oxford Library proposition was passed 153 to 31, along with the district's bus proposition, which was passed 142 to 42.

School board candidates John Godfrey, Nathaniel Emerson, and Timothy O'Brien were elected to the three vacant board of education seats after receiving 169, 163, and 161 votes respectively.

Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District

B-G residents voted to pass the district's $18,153,575 budget with 76 percent in favor by a vote of 202 to 63. Voters also passed propositions to lease school buses, transfer funds from reserve funds to the General Fund, and to create a Transportation Vehicle Capital Reserve Fund.

School board candidates Tina Ammon, Keith Hanvey, and Rebecca Sullivan, all incumbents running unopposed, were elected to three seats on the board of education. Ammon received 191 votes, Hanvey received 194, and Sullivan received 208.

Sherburne-Earlville Central School District

S-E residents voted to pass the district's budget on Tuesday, along with propositions for its Capital Project and leasing buses.

School board candidates Annette Bagnall-Graham, Peter Karaman, and Deb Kurtz were elected to three seats on the S-E board of education.

Greene Central School District

Greene residents voted to pass the district's budget on Tuesday with 62 percent in favor by a vote of 198 to 123.

School board incumbents Brian Milk and Scott Youngs were both re-elected to the board of education.

Afton Central School District

Afton residents voted to pass the district's budget with 77 percent in favor by a vote of 163 to 49. Voters also approved a bus lease proposition by a vote of 148 to 64, and a proposition to fund the Afton Free Library by a vote of 140 to 70.

School board candidate Ted King was elected after receiving 179 votes.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton School District

G-MU residents voted to pass the district's budget with 72 percent in favor by a vote of 134 to 51.

School board candidates Ethan Eberly and Hillary Osbourne were elected to the board of education after receiving 148 and 107 votes respectively.

Otselic Valley Central School District

OV residents voted to pass the district's budget with 75 percent in favor by a vote of 234 to 78. The district also voted in favor of implementing a student on the board of education by a vote of 222 to 87.

School board candidate Paul O'Connor was elected to the board of education after receiving 157 votes over candidate Dave Cruikshank's 145 votes.
