Oxford bridge construction may cause Rt. 12 delays
OXFORD – Route 12 commuters traveling through the town of Oxford may experience delays over the next five months as the New York State Department of Transportation has announced the Fly Meadow Creek bridge rehabilitation is underway.
Located just south of Turner Street north of the Village of Oxford, the bridge deck of Fly Meadow Creek will be replaced this summer along with other minor bridge repairs that may delay traffic along Route 12 until the repairs’ estimated completion date on October 1, 2018.
The estimated $1.27 million project is being funded by federal and state sources, including $943,000 from the NHPP and $322,000 from the NFA.
The progress of the Fly Meadow Creek bridge rehabilitation can be tracked at www.dot.ny.gov/projects by entering the Project Identification Number 901652.
The October 1 completion date is an estimation, but more detailed information about the progress of the Fly Meadow Creek bridge rehabilitation will be available by contacting NYS Department of Transportation Region 9 Public Information Officer David Hamburg at (607) 721-8118.
Vehicle operators are reminded that in accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, fines for speeding are doubled in working zones and convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone may result in one’s license being suspended.
