3rd annual PMC Kids Bike Ride on Sunday
NORWICH – The 3rd Annual Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) Kids Bike Ride cancer fundraiser benefitting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will take place in Norwich on Sunday, June 3, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Perry Browne Intermediate School.
Organized by two Norwich students, 11th grade twin sisters Hannah and Brenna Baker, the event will host an afternoon full of festivities for Sunday, including music, face-painting, games, and plenty of snacks and refreshments for all who attend.
If you have not registered as a rider or a volunteer PMC bike ride, you are still invited to come the day of the event and register. All participants are asked to bring their own bicycle and helmet to the event.
To register as a bike rider or volunteer please go to www.kids.pmc.org/norwich.aspx. For more information, email pmckidsridenorwichny@yahoo.com or call (607) 334-7746.
The event organized by the Baker sisters has raised over $40,000 since since Norwich in 2016.
Prior to coordinating the ride in Norwich, the two sisters have raised over $10,000 as riders in similar programs since they were seven-years-old. Every dollar of the $50,000 has gone directly towards funding cancer research and helping cancer patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.
Hannah and Brenna first became involved with PMC Kids Bike Rides in 2009 in Rhode Island. Ultimately, the sisters decided to bring the event to their hometown so that other children could participate in the ride and help raise money for cancer research. They hope that through their efforts and the efforts of all the riders, one day a cure will be found.
