Village of Oxford meeting over proposed police garage project
OXFORD – Officials from the Village of Oxford board and the police department will hold a presentation to the public on Wednesday, providing background information on the board’s proposed $75,000 project to construct a three-bay garage for police vehicles and emergency equipment and answer the public’s questions.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oxford Fire Station located at 20 Main Street in the Village of Oxford.
The village clerk’s office said the board had completed a multi-year review of the project and determined there was a need for long-term storage of police vehicles.
The results of the review led the village board to propose building a 1,500 square-foot garage, with three parking bays, at an estimated cost of $75,000.
The board determined the proposed project to be the best option for long-term value. They said the cost would be paid from reserves and not increase village property taxes.
The project would be built on village property at 44 North Washington Avenue, behind a pre-kindergarten building. The Preschool Head Start in Oxford is a federally funded program for preschool children ages 3-5 years.
The proposed project will be explained at the meeting along with tentative construction schedules. The evening’s agenda will consist of a presentation at 7 p.m., followed by a question and answer session.
Final approval for the project will be made by the Village of Oxford board at a regular meeting on June 26. The project is expected to be bid on in July and completed by late fall.
Information related to the project will be made available at the Oxford Village Hall located at 20 Lafayette Park and on the village’s website, at www.VillageofOxfordny.com.
