Three-car accident occurs on Route 12
NORWICH – A three-car accident occurred in Norwich on Monday, and New York State Police say it was caused by a single car following too closely.
At 11:29 a.m., on Route 12 in Norwich, a vehicle making a right turn from the north bound lane was struck from behind.
Traffic along route 12 was closed for approximately an hour and a half as crews removed the disabled vehicles and debris.
State police said the vehicle that was struck spun around and eventually hit another vehicle.
"I was stopped, signal light on. Turning into my driveway actually," said driver, Valerie Gonyou.
Gonyou said the accident took her completely by surprise, but fortunately her children in the back seat didn't sustain any injuries.
She said they went to the hospital to ensure everyone was alright and were later discharged.
The state police issued a ticket for following too closely to the other vehicle's driver, Loretta Sink.
