Earlville Opera House to offer summer camps and workshops

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House (EOH) has some great summer cultural offerings for all populations.

Choose from the following workshops for July: Art & Yoga, Mandalas & Meditation Daytime Retreat with Kirsten Weyter on July 7, noon to 4 p.m.; Non-stitch Quilted Collage Felting with Lisa Merian, on July 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and a Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop with special guest artist Shawna Caspi, July 7 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., where participants explore the performance capacity of the guitar beyond strummed cords, including open tunings, pick patterns and percussive elements. A great line up of diverse artistic fun to choose from!

Workshops are designed for all levels of experience and fees vary depending on the class and materials needed. Members of the EOH receive a registration discount (become a member!).

We invite you to join us on July 5 at 6:30pm on the Village Green in Hamilton for the Instrument Petting Zoo. This is a free event for children and families to enjoy during the hour before the Symposium concert begins on the Hamilton Village Green. This is a rare and wonderful opportunity for youth to meet the wild instruments and the daring musicians who tame them!

In keeping with tradition, EOH offers its famous Circus Camp from July 16 to July 20 for youth ages 7-17 where students explore juggling, trapeze, tightrope walking, tumbling, clowning, and other circus performance activities under the direction of Jenn Taylor from OM-Fly School.

This year’s theme is “Cirque de Seed” and ends in a youth production at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, with a special “Sideshow” presented by the Earlville Library and a free “Plant Your Own Seed” activity provided by Friends of Rogers.

In addition, the EOH is pleased to announce a new Kids Summer Art Camp from August 13 to August 17 for youth grades 5-9 where students engage in various artistic media including painting, drawing, printmaking, clay, sculpture and so much more! This week-long class is taught by Matthew Wilson of Wilson Ceramics. All teaching artists have professional teaching experience and a passion for fostering creativity. Class and Camp sizes are limited and filled on a first come basis.

All activities are held at the EOH, 18 East Main Street in the quaint Village of Earlville. To register, visit www.earlvilleoperahouse.com, call the EOH at (315) 691-3550, contact us through Facebook, or just stop into the office.
