Action Cyclery LLC rolls into Norwich's South Broad Street
NORWICH – A new business named Action Cyclery LLC opened its doors on Monday providing an outlet for new bicycles, bike repair services, and "everything bike-related" in downtown Norwich.
Located at 7 South Broad Street, Action Cyclerly LLC is owned by Dan Sepello, who brings 10-years experience in the cycling industry to his newest venture.
Sepello used to manage Adventure Bikes and Boards – later dubbed Action Cyclery – which was located at 12 South Broad Street in Norwich until its closing in 2013.
He said, "I went back into the working world and decided that really all I wanted to do was get back into running the bike shop again."
On Monday, Sepello officially opened Action Cyclery LLC.
"I think the demand has grown in the five years I've been gone," said Sepello. "Every time I run into my old customers, they're like, 'We really miss you, we wish you were back in business.' I've been hearing that ever since I closed up."
Part of the demand can be attributed to the increase in the popularity of cycling in Chenango County. The Galena Growlers Composite Mountain Bike Team for middle and high school students, as well as the All-American BMX team with upwards of 60 riders, are both organizations who are promoting local cycling.
Sepello said, "You've got both of those things going on and all the families involved with those teams and everything––cycling is just finally catching on here in Norwich and that's a beautiful thing."
Sepello runs Action Cyclery LLC with the help of his fiancé, Sarah Berhmann, who is handling the marketing and design aspects of the business and its bookwork, while Spello manages the hands-on services and sales.
Sepello said Action Cyclery LLC sells Growler and Trek brand bicycles, including town bikes, mountain bikes, and road bikes ranging from $400 to $10,000. He said the shop will service or repair anything and everything bike-related.
Sepello said his goal for the shop is for it to be a casual environment for local aspiring cyclists.
"I don't want it to look like a warehouse. I want it to have a cool vibe where people can hang out," said Sepello. "It's not a factory, it's not like a city shop. It's a small town shop, I'll sit and talk with my customers all day about bikes."
While Action Cyclery LLC is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Sepello said of his hours of operation, "If there's nobody in the shop, that's when I'll close. But if I'm selling stuff, I'm staying."
