Chenango farmers get nearly $100,000 to improve operations

CHENANGO COUNTY – Nearly $100,000 in state grants have been earmarked to profit two Chenango County farmers.


Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced more than $1 million in grants being doled out to new and veteran farmers across New York State to bolster the state’s agricultural industry.


Money is awarded by New York’s New Farmers Grant Fund and Veterans Farmer Grant Fund, which is designed to help farms operated by military veterans.


In Chenango County, Robert Gary Lobdell, a veteran farmer, was awarded $50,000 to build a new livestock barn, renovate an existing barn, purchase equipment, and install fencing to expand his beef operation.
