County receives additional funds for road maintenance

CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Department of Public Works is getting help from New York State to repair road damages caused by the harsh winter.

County officials this month accepted a $285,340 one-time reimbursement for road repairs and maintenance from the state’s Extreme Winter Recovery Appropriations, a program established to offset expenses local municipalities bear as a result of a rigid winter season.

Extreme Winter Appropriations are in addition to regular state funding that’s granted to the county each year.

The County DPW says the money will be used toward road and bridge repairs associated with the 2017-2018 winter season.
