6 goals push Storm to opening season win

NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm cruised to an opening season MAC league victory Friday afternoon, defeating the Crimson Knights of Afton by a score of 6-0.

The scoring started early in the contest as Storm midfield Cameron Osborne hit a quick shot on a free kick that went through the hands of Afton's goalie Riley Livermore and into the back of the net. 30 seconds later, Dylan Nichols scored for UV, sending the ball trickling past Livermore.

Nichols wasn't done scoring. Nearing the end of the first half, the Storm's midfielder Devon Fairchild found an open Nichols that turned into the third goal for UV and the first assist of three for Fairchild.

A second half saw several goals all within a five minute period of time.

Returning from football, Spencer Meade took the reigns as he fielded a pass from Fairchild before cutting around Afton's replacement goalie Thomas VanVarce and dribbling into the net. One minute later, Meade was the recipient of a pass from teammate Shawn Contreras and threaded another one into the net.

Storm forward Skot Lindholm capped the scoring with 13:50 remaining, heading home an Osborne corner kick into the upper corner.
