Storm returns home with win over Delhi

DELHI – The Unadilla Valley golfers put together a round at the College Course at Delhi that bettered the home Bulldogs to win their fourth match of the season, 259-317.
Delhi’s Miles Philion turned in a nine-hole score of 40 for the top medalist honors for the match.
Andrew Jackson led the way for the Storm with a 46 for the round. His teammate Brandon Kneale finished just four strokes behind him with a 50.
UV’s Drew Emrich shot a 53 while Gavin Church ended the day with a 54 and Owen Hill rounded out the Storm scorecard with a 56.
Unadilla Valley (4-1) travels to French Woods Golf Course to face Deposit-Hancock on Monday for a league match that will tee off at 4 p.m.
Oxford 257, Greene 266
OXFORD – The Blackhawks bounced back from their loss to Deposit-Hancock by winning 257-266 at home against Greene on Wednesday.
Oxford’s Jason Davis earned top medalist of the match by shooting a 46 on the front nine at BlueStone. His teammate Garrett Depew ended the round just two stroke behind with a 48.
Greene’s Anthony Thatcher led the Trojans with a 49.
Liam O’Brien aided in the Oxford win by turning in a 50 while the Blackhawks Matt Roach tied Greene’s Jake Cook and Clayton Leonard as all three finished with a round score of 52.
Nick Cirello was Oxford’s final top five finisher, ending his day with a 61. Greene had Derek Heisler shoot a 56 and Steven Mills’ 57 to round out their scorecard.
Earlier in the week, Oxford’s Depew finished with medalist honors, turning in a 41 for the match but it was the Deposit-Hancock’s day on their home course as they took the league match with a final of 249-271.
The Blackhawks’ Davis matched Eagle’s Josiah Simmons scorecard as they both scored a 45 on par 36 back nine at French Woods. Simmons teammate Mason Karcher ended the day just three strokes behind with a 48 as the two led the home team. Their other three players all finished within one stroke of each other to round out the game, assisting with the Eagles win.
Christian Paden of Oxford tallied a 59 while Roach scored a 62 and Cirello shot a 64 to round out the top five for the visiting team.
Oxford (4-3) heads to Bainbridge-Guilford on Friday as they take on the Bobcats at Sundown Golf Course in a MAC Conference match. Greene will travel to Sidney on Friday also. The start times are slated for 4 p.m.
