NORWICH – Norwich claimed a 3-0 win over Seton Catholic on Friday night, senior night for five of the Purple Tornado players.
Senior Nicole Jeffrey tallied the first Norwich goal of the game as she found the back of the net in the first half, giving the home team the early lead.
Later in the half, Sydney Coggins scored the first of her two goal of the game, firing past a diving Seton goalkeeper.
Norwich held that lead into the half time break, where they honored seniors Jeffrey, Morgan Conkling, Taylor Hansen, Triniti Myers and Saige Benedict for the their years of dedication to the program.
20 minutes played in the second half, Coggins took one shot after receiving a pass from Jeffrey but it was stopped by the Saints goalie. Sticking with the play, however, Coggins finished a rebounded attempt to seal the deal for the Tornado.
Norwich’s goalie was tested in the second half but made some strong saves to record the shut-out win.
The Purple Tornado need just one game to make post season play for the second year in a row. They will travel Chenango Forks on Wednesday for a game at 7 p.m. and follow that game up with Susquehanna Valley the next day at 5:30 p.m.
