Fire in Norwich leaves trailer uninhabitable, cause under investigation

NORWICH – Norwich Fire Department officials are still investigating the cause of a trailer fire in Norwich on Monday, and have said due to fire and smoke damage – the trailer was a complete loss.


According to Norwich Fire Department Chief Jan Papelino, a 911 call was received at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday night, and the caller reported that a tree fell over on River Street, stressing and breaking a power line, and a nearby trailer was on fire.

"At the end of the night no one was injured in the fire, the owner of the trailer and his dog were not in the house at the time of the fire, but unfortunately the trailer was a total loss due to fire and smoke damage," said Papelino.


Papelino said after driving emergency vehicles through the compact trailer park streets, firefighters saw the trailer was heavily involved with flames. He said the department was at the scene until around 2 a.m., and it returned for further investigation on the following morning.
