Group creates and donates quilts to honor veterans

SHERBURNE – Members of a local quilting group called "One Stitch at a Time" handmade several patriotic quilts and presented them to 23 veterans during Sherburne's Veteran's Day ceremony.

According to One Stitch at a Time representative Trish Kane, last summer, the One Stitch at a Time Quilting Group from Sherburne, New York was looking for a way to honor our veterans.

"We had heard about the national group, Quilts of Valor, but wanted to do something on a more local level, and this is when the Quilts of Honor program was born," said Kane.

She said this year, the group decided to honor local WWII and Korean War Vets.
