DELHI – Carlos Ithier, former Norwich Purple Tornado guard and current member of the SUNY Delhi Bronco roster, earned the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after shooting lights out while recording his career high in the points column.
The junior guard knocked down seven three pointers in his eight attempts from beyond the arc, counting for 21 of his 23 total points in a Broncos win over the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill this past Sunday.
Ithier’s point total was a game high in Sunday’s contest, helping improve the Broncos’ record to 2-2 this season under fourth year head coach Zach Thomsen, a former local stand-out himself at Unadilla Valley.
En route to the 23 points, Ithier saw three out of four of his shots from long range go through the net in the first half and made all four of his attempts in the second 20 minutes of play. He added two made free throws.
The former Class B Section IV Player of the Year also dished out three assists and pulled in a rebound to add to his stat sheet.
So far this season, Ithier has started the five games played by the Broncos and has totaled 113 minutes on the floor. He is currently shooting 17-41 from the floor with 12 of his made shots coming from the three point line while tallying 14 assists and limiting himself to just seven turnovers.
Ithier and the rest of the SUNY Delhi Broncos travel to Oneonta to take on Hartwick Thursday at 7 p.m.
