City receives tentative budget, sets public hearing for Tuesday

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Common Council officially received the 2019 tentative budget at its meeting Tuesday night and set a public hearing date for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4.


The $12.3 million tentative budget includes an $8.4 million general fund line, a 0.48 percent increase in tax rate, and a $6.05 increase in annual taxes on the average property owner.


It is a slight decrease from the $12.4 million 2018 budget, which included a 1.81 percent increase in tax rate and an average cost impact of $22.5 per year of the city's average property owner.
