The Jewish Center of Norwich gathered to celebrate Hanukkah on Sunday evening, which began on the evening of Sunday, December 2 and ends on Monday evening, December 10. Hanukkah celebrates an ancient victory of Jewish people fighting to retain their religious freedom. According to legend, ancient Jewish people relit a menorah to rededicate to the Temple and only had enough oil for one night, but it lasted for eight nights, thus becoming the Miracle of Hanukkah. Pictured here, Sue Fertig lights the menorah on Sunday evening at the Jewish Center of Norwich.
