South New Berlin FD seeks $1.1 million for building project
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Residents in South New Berlin Fire District will be voting today on a proposed $1.1 million project to purchase property and pay for the construction for a new fire department building.
From noon until 9 p.m. residents of the district will vote at the South New Berlin Firehouse.
The resolution reads as follows:
“Bond resolution of the South New Berlin Fire District, in the Town of New Berlin, Chenango County, New York, authorizing the purchase of 3519 State Hwy 8, South New Berlin, NY, Construction of an addition and improvements to the existing structure at that property, stating the estimated maximum cost thereof, including preliminary costs and costs incidental thereto and the financing thereof, is $1,100,000, appropriating said amount for such purpose, including the expenditure up to $100,000 from general fund-authorizing the issuance of not to exceed 1,000,000 bonds of the fire district to finance the balance of said appropriation, stating that the period of probable usefulness of said project is twenty-five years, and providing for the levy and collection of taxes to pay the principle of said bonds and the interest thereon as the same become due and payable.”
