Blackhawks bowling splits with Deposit as girls sweep; S-E girls remain undefeated

NORWICH – The Oxford Blackhawks bowling team split against Deposit on Wednesday, losing the four points on the boys side and earning all points in the girls match.
Oxford’s Erin Howard continued her great start to the season by earning top bowling honors for the girls match. She finished with a 633 scratch series that included single game scores of 231, 203 and 199. All three of Howard’s game scores were each the highest single game bowled.
Her teammate Megan Smith bowled 145, 168 and 119 to total a series score of 432. Catherine Northrup rolled a 358 scratch series while Cate Maynard and Leah VanDeusen both ended the day with a 284 three game score.
Deposit was led by Carol Strubles’ 460 scratch series.
The Lady Blackhawks top five bowled a total score of 1991, 348 pins better than their opponent.
In the boys match, Oxford saw just four bowlers compile their team score. Jacob Forsythe of the Blackhawks bowled a team-best 432 for his three game total. His 176 in the second game was the highest by any bowler for that round.
Logan Ingraham ended with a 415 while Joe Cole bowled a 285 and Matt Cole finished with match with a 260.
Gabe Rynearson bowled the match’s best series, producing a 532 total for the three games. He rolled a 205 in the first game and a 173 in the third game for two of the highest single games in the match.
Oxford’s next match is on Friday against Afton/Harpursville. Bowling is scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m.
Sherburne-Earlville 5, Sauquoit Valley 0
SAUQUOIT – The Lady Marauders bowling team remained undefeated for the season after they swept all points in Tuesday’s match against host Sauquoit Valley, winning 5-0.
S-E’s Dalaney Parker, who has been the team’s highest bowler all season, earned the honors once again after bowling a 479 scratch series total. Parker’s first game score of 176 was the best by any bowler. Her teammate Olivia Fehlner finished the same game just three pins behind with a 173. Fehlner ended the match with a 467 series.
The rest of the Maraduers top five bowled over a 300-plus score. Jade Diamond bowled a 362 series, Alexis Fowlston finished with a 330 and Sierrah Davis rounded out S-E’s five best with a 316.
Sauquoit Valley’s top bowler was Kaleigh Lebert, who finished with the match series high of 490.
Sherburne-Earlville’s next match on the lanes is on Thursday at Canastota. Match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
