NORWICH – Congressman-elect Anthony Brindisi held a thank you celebration in Norwich on Monday night to show appreciation to the supporters and volunteers of his campaign.

"We did it, right?" said Brindisi as he walked in the Bohemian Moon, greeted by a round of applause from those in attendance.

Since his victory over Claudia Tenney, Brindisi said he's been busy preparing for his new job which officially begins after he's sworn in on January 3. Last week he appointed Sarah F. Bormann as the District Director for New York's 22nd Congressional District, who will be in charge of his district offices, community relations, and constituent services.

"I was down in Washington for a couple weeks for new member orientation, but I've been spending a lot of time over the last few weeks getting around the congressional district to meet with community leaders and local officials," said Brindisi, adding that he has also been having thank you parties for the volunteers and supporters who made his victory possible.

Brindisi said once he takes office, some of his first orders of business will be holding town hall meetings throughout the 22nd Congressional District to stay in tune with his constituents and the issues important to them.

"We have a lot of challenges down in Washington, probably one of the most pressing is healthcare, so I want to get to work on those issues right away," said Brindisi.

In the meantime, Brindisi has been held thank you events in Binghamton, Cortland, Utica, and Norwich. To the people of Chenango County, he said, "I want to say to everybody in Chenango County, whether they supported our campaign or not, I'm excited to get to work for all the people in this community.

"And we have a lot of challenges ahead of us, but I'm going to get to work on day one trying to fix some of the issues that people talked on the campaign trail about."
