NORWICH – Two local authors have penned a new book titled "The I.L. Richer Company, A History," now available at the Chenango County Historical Society Musuem's Bull Thistle gift shop.

Written by John C. Mitchell, whose family owned the I.L. Richer Company, and CCHS board member Sharon M. Donahe, the publication includes a complete history of the I.L. Richer, biographical information of the company's leaders, and many photos to amplify the Richer story.

A promo for the book states, "Until 2008 when the business was sold, the I.L. Richer Company was the oldest privately-owned feed business headquartered in the Northeast, serving many local area farmers. Throughout what would be the 127-year history of The I.L. Richer company, it remained a family operation through four generations. With a focus on all aspects of customer service, the Richer company was one of the area’s most highly respected businesses."

The book is available in the museum gift shop during museum hours: Wednesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Orders can also be placed over the phone by calling (607) 334-9227 or (607) 334-6464, or by emailing giftshop@chenangohistorical.org. CCHS members receive a 10 percent discount.
