Bears handled Unatego-Unadilla in 76-4 match win

BAINBRIDGE – The Bears of Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Harpursville took on Unatego/Unadilla Valley at home and took care of business with all but two matches being decided by pinfall in their 76-4 dual meet win Tuesday evening.
The lone win of the match for the visiting Unatego/Unadilla Valley team came in the 126 pound bout as Matt Bogden claimed a 15-6 major decision, defeating BGAH’s Wayne Lewis.
For the Bears, Shane Hoover continued his perfect season thus far, pinning James Wright of the U/UV team in just 28 seconds.
Also adding to their win streak for BGAH was Brody Oleksak. In the 132 pound bout against Unatego/Unadilla Valley’s Jacob Stevens, Oleksak landed a move that put his opponent flat on the mat at 4:23 to earn another six points for his team.
The only other match that was not determined by a pin was the victory for Jacob Terpstra, who picked up 14-4 major over U/UV Josh Meade.
Rocco Aruini (195), Joey Florance (99), Jose Bivar (106), Dylan Decker (113) and Trevor Ross (132) all won by forfeit in the meet to give BGAH 30 teams points on the scoreboard.
Also earning wins in the match were Damian Stafford – who pinned his opponent in Thomas Knapp in the first period to start the Bears off the night – Austin Eggleston, Brady Buttice and Hayden Lewis.
BGAH hosts Deposit/Hancock at 6 p.m. Thursday before attending the Red Devil Invitation on Saturday.

WALTON – The Greene/Oxford wrestling team earned three wins in their match against Walton/Delhi Tuesday but came out on the losing side after all bouts won by Walton/Delhi came by a pinfall decision.
Kaden Wakefield at 99 pounds for Greene/Oxford started the match on a positive note for his team, defeating W/D’s Noah Sovocool by a 13-0 major decision.
G/O’s next win in the match came at the 145 match when Paul Baker pulled out a 5-4 decision over Will Pettit of Walton/Delhi.
Carrying on his winning way was Greene/Oxford’s Noah Kennedy. The team’s standout pinned his opponent – Ben Conrow of Walton/Delhi – at the 1:08 mark of the first period. Kennedy is now 22-4 on the season and has won 12 of his bouts by pinfall. He is ranked at the top wrestler for Division-II in the Section IV rankings for 195 pounds.
Next up for the Greene/Oxford team is Sidney, who is currently 11-1 in dual meet competition this season. Greene/Oxford will host the Warriors at 6 p.m. Thursday.
