Lady Trojans keep perfect league record after win over Sidney; UV sees loss after tough shooting night
GREENE – McKenna Sergi and Emma Smith combined for 21 of the Lady Trojans 24 first quarter points as Greene held the pace throughout the contest in their 74-18 win over the Sidney Warriors Tuesday.
Sergi dialed in from long-distance early, hitting four 3-pointer in the quarter while teammate Smith dominated inside the paint as she scored eight points around the rim.
In the second, it was the Trojans’ Katelynn Pratt who controlled the inside. Pratt scored eight in the stanza to pace Greene, tallying nearly half of the points in the eight minutes of play.
Defensively, the Trojans’ defense held the Warriors to single digits in each of the four quarters. Following halftime, Sidney was limited to just one basket in the third. On the other end of the floor, Greene produced their second highest point total in a quarter for the contest as the team put up 20.
Kylee Peck of the Trojans recorded seven of her 11 total points in the third while Smith added six as she was on her way to a game-high 20 points. Smith drained a 3-pointer for her final points of the game in the fourth.
Scoring their first basket of the game in the final quarter for Greene were Baileigh Estabrooke and McKenzie Drew and the Trojans saw nearly every player score a point in the game.
Sergi finished with 18 in the game while Peck and Pratt both ended the night in double figures. Pratt tallied 10.
Emma Simmons was the leading scorer for the Warriors, finished with eight in the game.
Greene (9-2, 4-0) travels to Hancock on Friday to face the Eagles of Deposit/Hancock for a Midstate Athletic Conference contest. Game is slated for 7:15 p.m.

DELHI – Another rough shooting night from the floor plagued the Lady Storm of Unadilla Valley as the host Delhi Bulldogs ran away with the Midstate Athletic Conference 58-32 win Tuesday.
UV’s head coach Brandi Whitbeck stated her team played hard and didn’t give up but didn’t shoot the ball well.
With a total of three made field goals in the first half and early foul trouble, Unadilla Valley was held to 11 points while Delhi posted 29 on the scoreboard.
Out of the halftime break, shots started to fall for the Storm as Kyleigh George knocked down two shots for four of her six points in the contest.
On the other end of the floor, the Bulldogs’ standout Anna Post finished with seven in the quarter. She ended the night leading all scorers with 14 points.
In the fourth, UV outscored Delhi 12-11 with five different players scoring a bucket – one coming from Keona Courtright.
The Storm were led by Shelby Meade’s eight points in the game with Meegan White tallying seven and both George and Sophie Off kicking in six points each.
Unadilla Valley (5-6, 0-4) looks to get back to their winning ways Friday night as they travel to face Walton for a MAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
