Bobcats shoot lights out for MAC win over Harpursville
BAINBRIDGE – For the second straight game, the Lady Bobcats of Bainbridge-Guilford put a final tally of 70 points on the scoreboard, picking up the 71-17 win over the Harpursville Hornets in a Midstate Athletic Conference contest Thursday night.
Abi Selfridge once again led the Bobcats in the scoring column with 22 points, making seven shots from the floor and hitting a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. Selfridge’s biggest quarter came in the second when she scored nine points that included a 3-pointer.
Sister Erica Selfridge had a hot hand in the second half, tallying all 16 of her points in the third and fourth quarters. In the 16 minutes of play following the break, Erica hit four shots from beyond the 3-point arc for 12 of her game total.
B-G started the game leading 1-0 after their defense held the Hornets with out a basket scored. Over the course of the game, the Bobcats limited Harpursville to single digit scoring totals in each of the remaining three quarters.
At halftime, Bainbridge-Guilford led 26-5. Out of the break, six different Bobcats scored to combine for 29 points in the stanza. B-G finished the game with another 16 point quarter, scoring double figures in all four quarters.
Macie Leizear and Isabelle Decker recorded double digits numbers as Leizear made six baskets for 12 points – all in the first three quarters – and Decker added 11 points, six coming in the fourth.
Harpursville was led by MacKenzie Robertson’s five points in the loss.
B-G (8-2, 4-1) travels to Elmira on Saturday for a non-league afternoon game with the Notre Dame Crusaders. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
