Greene American Legion news

Congratulations to Greene High School Juniors Nolan Butler, Nate Erickson, and Jacob Funnel. Nolan and Nate were selected by an interviewing committee of the Greene Legion Post 692 to go to Boy’s State this summer. Jacob was selected as the Alternate. Boy’s State is a Leadership Camp for outstanding young men who will be Seniors next year. It is run somewhat like a paramilitary camp with emphasis on government, PT, and personal growth. There is no cost to those selected as the Greene Post pays for the boys selected to go.

There is an excellent book and movie out entitled “Indivisible." The book is a novelization by Travis Thrasher. It tells the story of a new Army Chaplain who goes to Iraq for a 15 month tour in 2007. The book gives insights into what a married man, father of 3 children, sees and goes through personally and with his troops in war. The horrors of war changes a person no matter how strong or spiritually deep a person might have been.
