UHS Chenango Memorial launches 2019 Women’s Health Series with talk on Healthy Habits

NORWICH – Many Americans start the New Year with a list of Resolutions. But when it comes to converting those resolutions into lasting lifestyle change, more than a third don’t even make it to February, according to one nutrition expert.

“In many cases, we know what we should be doing to live a healthier lifestyle. The challenge is actually doing it,” said Janice Minutti, RD.

As an outpatient dietitian at UHS Chenango Memorial, Minutti helps her clients build plans to keep them motivated and on track as they make long-term changes to their diet and lifestyle.

She’ll be sharing tools and tips on the topic in a presentation on Healthy Habits on Tuesday, January 29 at Bohemian Moon, 103 East Main Street in Norwich. The program will begin at 6 p.m. with an optional $15 buffet and cash bar. The presentation and discussion will follow at 7 p.m.

“We’ll be focusing on helping participants make a realistic plan to successfully meet whatever healthy eating and exercise behaviors they want to accomplish this year,” Minutti said.

She will be joined by Allison O’Neill, PT, of UHS Therapies Norwich.

“This is about helping people think beyond resolutions and toward making healthy, sustainable lifestyle change,” said O’Neill, who will kick off the evening with a discussion on safely incorporating activity and movement to improve overall health.

The program is the first installment of UHS Chenango Memorial’s 2019 Women’s Health Education Series – a series of informative conversations about different aspects of women’s health, held monthly at Bohemian Moon.

“As women, we share many things with our close friends, but we often avoid talking about our bodies and our health, especially as we age,” said Melissa Stagnaro, Director of Fundraising & Business Development at UHS Chenango Memorial.

“This series is about starting a dialogue. It’s about connecting women, bringing them information on topics that are relevant to them, and giving them the opportunity to learn both from our medical professionals and from each other.”
