Man arrested after showing illegally owned gun to neighbor during dispute

COVENTRY – The New York State Police arrested a state parolee Friday after he allegedly displayed an illegally owned firearm at a neighbor during a dispute.

According to police on March 15 at approximately 4:43 p.m., New York State Police Officers stationed at Greene responded to a reported dispute at a residence in the Town of Coventry.

Troopers would eventually arrest Bradly M. Falkenmeyer, 27, of Coventry for 2nd-degree menacing and 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Troopers reported an investigation into the dispute revealed an dispute between neighbors, the complainant, and Falkenmeyer that began over a dog going onto the other's property.

Police said the complainant told troopers that Falkenmeyer displayed a shotgun and threatened to shoot the dog during the dispute.

While police were looking into the incident, they said they discovered Falkenmeyer was in possession of a shotgun and was on parole for a previous criminal conviction, which prohibits him from possessing firearms.

The Chenango County District Attorney's Office said Falkenmeyer would also be facing a violation of parole and that it may make him ineligible for release on bail.

“An investigation revealed that Falkenmeyer did have a shotgun in his residence and was also on parole which would not allow him to be in possession of any firearms. Falkenmeyer was arrested and arraigned in the town of Coventry Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail without bail,” reported police.
