Greene grad named assistant field hockey coach at JMU

HARRISONBURG, VA – Anna Crumb, a graduate of Greene Central School, was named the assistant field hockey coach at James Madison University last week.
“I am incredibly honored to be working for such a highly reputable program such as James Madison University. I am eager to begin, and am excited to work with (JMU) Coach (Christy) Morgan and build upon the rich tradition of excellence she has established at JMU. I would like to thank Coach Morgan for providing me with the opportunity to coach at the highest level,” Crumb texted Saturday.
Crumb, who earned a 2009 state championship at Greene, comes to JMU after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Kenyon College, where they accrued a 56-23 record and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Crumb has also coached the Central New York Field Hockey Club and USA Field Hockey Futures program.
“I would also like to thank my mentor (Kenyon College head coach) Jacque DeMarco for giving me to opportunity to learn and develop under her tutelage. I’m looking forward to bringing the knowledge I have gained from Kenyon College and Syracuse University to JMU,” Crumb added.
Prior to coaching, Crumb played collegiately at Syracuse, where she helped her graduating class accumulate a 36-0 record at home, two Big East championships and an appearance in the 2011 NCAA championship game.
“What I love about her is her authenticity,” Morgan said of Crumb. “She works hard, has great integrity, great knowledge of the game and coaches with great passion. I’m excited for her to be a part of this program. One of her primary jobs will be recruiting coordinator and with her eye for talent, her organization skills and her personality, I think that she will do a great job in this area. She is a positive person and has great energy We feel very fortunate to have her be here at JMU.”
Crumb is the daughter of Tim and Brenda Crumb of Greene.
