Local groups hold Chenango Community Day of Prayer
NORWICH – The Norwich Interfaith Council is gathering for a Chenango Community Day of Prayer Wednesday, May 1. The gathering for prayer is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on the steps of the Chenango County Courthouse in Norwich.
On that evening, the day before the National Day of Prayer, members of the Norwich Interfaith Council will offer prayers for the community.
“All are invited to join in and give thanks for the blessings we share in this wonderful community, and remembering our neighbors in their struggles and their contributions. We will pray for the health and well being of residents, our representatives, and those who daily work to protect the safety and the function of our towns and rural areas. We will also pray that God guides and supports our leadership in their good work on our behalf.” said Yusuf Harper representing the Muslim Community as a member of The Norwich Interfaith Council.
The interfaith meeting will include the United Church of Christ, First Congregational; representatives of the local Muslim community; the First Baptist Church; the Norwich Jewish Center; the Christ Lutheran Church and Broad Street United Methodist Church.
