Grand slam win for Eagles, top Oxford 16-0
HANCOCK – The Eagles’ Luke Resti and Caleb Walker each hit a grand slam Tuesday night, racking up eight RBIs between the two blasts over the fence in Deposit-Hancock’s 16-0 home win over the Oxford Blackhawks on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks had four hits in the game and were led by Nick Cirello at the plate. Cirello ended the day going 2-for-3, which included one double in the third inning.
Resti sent his grand slam shot over the right field fence in the bottom of the second inning while Walker came in the bottom of the sixth to cap off the Eagles’ scoring. Walker drilled a deep fly ball to center field, scoring teammates Castin Ostrander, Wyatt Jacobs, and Mason Karcher. Walker went 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
After Resti’s homer in the bottom of the second, he decided he wasn’t done as he added a three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth inning. He ended the day with seven RBIs for the game on three hits in four trips to the plate.
Brad Beckwith and Evan Sylstra added base knocks for Oxford. Beckwith picked up his hit in the to lead-off the second inning while Sylstra start the top of the seventh off with a blooper fly ball to center field that dropped in for a single.
Deposit/Hancock’s Cole Russell also had a three-hit game in the win for the home team, going 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Raymond Rynearson was a perfect 2-for-2 with a RBI as he cross the plate for a run.
The Eagles’ Owen Wormuth picked up the win for the Eagles, striking out five in four innings of work.
Matt Roach started on the hill for Oxford and teammate Nolan Dodzweit came in to pitch in the third inning for the rest of the game. The two combined for seven strikeouts against Eagles batters.
The Blackhawks will look to rebound from Tuesday’s game when they home Bainbridge-Guilford on Wednesday. Game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
