UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial Celebrates Nursing Home Week
NORWICH – Nursing homes across the nation are currently celebrating National Nursing Home Week, from May 12 to 18. The theme this year is “Live Soulfully.”
Hospital Activities Director Karen Blackman, explains, “This is a special week and we will host a series of events designed to enrich the relationships and contacts between residents, youth, community members, and family and staff.”
The hospital provides resident care on its senior living floor.
UHS Senior Living marked the occasion with lots of activities at CMH this week.
The celebrations began with Mothers’ Day. Country singer Rylee Lum of America’s Got Talent fame led the list of events this week with an incredible concert for all the residents and staff.
The week's events also included:
Monday’s event included a meet-n-greet book signing for local authors, many of whom are living on the hospital’s second.
Tuesday was music by the Tweedlers with staff and residents enjoying the rhythm and tunes.
Wednesday has the taste buds working overtime with a mac and cheese cook off.
Thursday includes a field trip and painting at the Artists' Palette. Residents will enjoy a trip to town and the creation of one-of-a-kind art.
Friday will include a reflection of our lives event and the week concludes with bowling for dollars on the floor.
UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial is on the second floor of UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, 179 North Broad Street, Norwich. For information about the nursing home, call 607-337-4019.
