Four seeking Norwich mayor post to speak at forum
NORWICH – There are likely four candidates running for Norwich City mayor. In June voters will select a Republican candidate for the city.
The winner will represent the Republican Party in the General Election in November.
Prior to the election though there will be a meet the candidates forum, Monday June 3, at the Bohemian Moon with all the candidates. The event will begin at about 6:30 p.m.
Chenango Links representative, Karol Kucinski, who is helping to organize the forum, said all candidates running for City of Norwich mayor's office will be at the event. Chenango Links is a community group that promotes local involvement.
He said incumbent, Christine A. Carnrike, along with candidates, Shawn C. Sastri, Jill Osterhout-Kraft and Joseph P. Maiurano will speak at the event. Kraft is running as a Democrat, Maiurano is running as an independent, Carnrike and Sastri are facing each other in the Republican primary June 25.
Republican Commissioner Mary Lou Monahan said the primary will be noon to 9 p.m., June 25. She said primaries would be held in the City of Norwich and the towns of McDonough, North Norwich, Smithville and Smyrna. Polling locations will be the same as last election and information about it can be found at www.co.chenango.ny.us/elections.
