Chenango youth celebrate annual Touch-a-Truck event

NORWICH – Children and parents from around Chenango County visited the fairgrounds earlier this month and had the opportunity to meet firemen, police officers, and have law enforcement check their children’s carseats for safety concerns.


The event took place in the afternoon on May 11 at the Chenango County Fairgrounds, and different agencies from the county were present including Preferred Mutual Insurance, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police Troop C, Norwich Police Department, and Norwich Fire Department.


Preferred Mutual sponsored the event to help promote child safety in vehicles, working with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office to provide free inspections and child carseat replacements if necessary.

According to Preferred Mutual Representative Jamie Gaudreau-Moore, each year the insurance company sends representatives down to the fairgrounds to promote child safety and help keep parents educated.
