Police search for man who assaulted Oxford ATM

OXFORD – New York State Police released surveillance footage from a bank in Oxford as part of a search for a man who kicked and punched an ATM after trying to use a gas station rewards card instead of a debit card on the ATM.

According to New York State Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at approximately 7 a.m., on June 8, in the Village of Oxford a man damaged an ATM machine on North Canal Street.

Dembinska said the man will be charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony, because of the damage done to the ATM would cost over $250 to repair.

She said the perpetrator is described as a heavier set white male wearing a gray sweatshirt, black and gray shorts, had a Dallas Cowboys hat on backwards and has a tattoo on his left calf.

"It appears as though the man attempted to use the ATM, became angry and punched and kicked the machine," she added.

Dembinska said the man attempted to use a gas station rewards card instead of a debit card.
