Police identify operator in fatal motorcycle accident in Greene

GREENE – Police released information Wednesday about a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in Greene last Friday and said a Binghamton man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

According to New York State Police, the operator, 59-year-old Edward V. Spencer Jr. of Binghamton, died in the crash. The Greene EMS and Fire Department responded to the scene.

New York State Police Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska said Spencer's red 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was found off the western shoulder of the other side of the guard rail.

She said the accident occurred at about 5:49 p.m. on July 26. Law enforcement received a 911 call reporting the accident along State Highway 12 in Greene.

Dembinska said an autopsy will be conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
