Police: Final suspect arrested in Norwich assault case
NORWICH – Police said they've charged the last suspect in an assault case made a victim blind in one eye and fractured their skull.
Tyrone D. Lester Jr., 30, of 74 Birdsall St. in Norwich, was charged with first-degree assault, a class B felony, after police said Lester, Jonathan R. Booker, and Hannah E. Bard, caused serious physical injuries to the victim. All three have been charged with felony assault in the case.
According to Norwich Police Department Assistant Chief Scott Burlison, thanks to the efforts of Norwich police officers and Detective Reuben Roach, all suspects were tracked down and arrested in this case.
"Detective Roach did an excellent job tracking down suspects by following the evidence and conducting interviews," said Burlison. "At this point the investigation is closed, and it'll be taken care of in court from here on out."
He said the level of violence displayed in this case made it particularly important to capture the suspects as quickly as possible. He added that the victim was attacked by the group for several minutes, even after the victim fell to the ground along Lackawanna Avenue in downtown Norwich.
