Storm golf opens ‘19 campaign with 65-stroke victory
B-G tops Oxford in season opener
EDMESTON – The Unadilla Valley’s Brandon Kneale opened up his 2019 season with a 7-over-par (43) at Red Pines Golf Course to be crowned the top medalist in the Storm’s match against Midstate Athletic opponent Delhi Tuesday afternoon.
Kneale turned in the lowest round by nine strokes with teammate Jacob Figger shooting a second-best 52.
Delhi’s Corey Zwick led his team with a 53 while colleague Bronson Thomas scored a 68 for the Bulldogs.
UV’s Mark Hine finished the day with 61 and Anthony Weller ended the day six strokes back, scoring a 67. Gracie Oglesby also shot a 67 on the nine-hole, 3220 yard card.
The Storm finished with a 290 while Delhi shot a team score of 355 for the round.
UV (1-0) travels to Belden Hill Golf Course on Thursday at 9 a.m. to play Afton/Harpursville.

OXFORD – The Blackhawks top five all turned in scores below 60 for their first match of the season however, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats had three of their five card below a 50 to take the win.
B-G’s Caleb Presley (47), Thomas Lord (48) and Ryan McCarthy (49) all scored in the 40’s to carry their team to an opening season victory over the host Oxford at Blue Stone Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks’ senior Nick Cirello led the team in the loss, shooting a 49 on the par-34 front nine of Oxford’s home course. Christian Paden shot a second-best 53 while teammate Abby Denz finished just one stroke back the freshman golfer.
Closing out the Blackhawks’ top five were Dylan Conklin and Bryan Huggins, who both scored a 59 to keep all Oxford golfers below 60-shot round.
The Bobcats’ Jon England ended the day with 52 while colleague Omar Mohamed tallied a 60 for the best five scores for the visiting team.
Both teams head on the road Thursday as Oxford travels to Sidney and Bainbridge-Guilford visits Greene. B-G will tee-off with Trojans at 9 a.m. while the Blackhawks start at 11 a.m.
