GUILFORD – A Bainbridge man died Tuesday afternoon after police said he attempted to make a u-turn in an intersection and was hit by a truck hauling cattle.
According to New York State Police Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday state police were dispatched to County Routes 36 and 37 in the Town of Guilford.
“The call came out as a two car serious personal injury accident,” said Dembinska. "After arriving on scene troopers determined that a 2003 Honda Civic was heading west on County Route 37, but conducted a u-turn directly in the path of a southbound 16 Ford F350 that was pulling a loaded cattle trailer with 12 full grown cows on board."
She said the driver of the Civic, Richard A. Dibble, 52, of Bainbridge died after being flown to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City.
