Oxford’s first win on the course takes down Afton/Harpursville

Norwich falls to Forks at CCC
OXFORD – Tuesday’s match at Blue Stone Golf Course brought together a team that was unbeaten and a team looking for their first win of the season. After having a rough night on the course in Delhi, the Oxford Blackhawks shot a season best 241 to redeem themselves and take down the undefeated team from Afton/Harpursville.
Top Oxford golfer Matt Roach turned in a season best 46 for the front nine, par-34 at Blue Stone.
Afton/Harpursville’s Logan Culver shot a 44 to top all golfers for the match and teammate Kevin Killmeier was the only other A/H golfer to finish in the 40’s, recording a 49 for the round.
The Blackhawks’ Nick Cirello, Dylan Conklin and Christian Paden all ended the afternoon shooting a 48 while Abby Denz also recorded her best score of the year, finishing with a 51.
Ashton Villeco and Jason Reeve came in with a 54 for the nine holes and Camaron Smith was the fifth golfer for Afton/Harpursville scorecard, turning in a 57.
A day earlier, Cirello was Oxford’s top player, shooting a 53 at Delhi’s College Course. The senior was the lone Blackhawk to shoot under a 60 for the match.
Corey Zwick shot 45 to lead the Delhi Bulldogs in the league golf match.
Paden ended Monday’s round with a 61 while Conklin finished the nine holes one stroke behin. William Kelsey shot a 65 and Denz turned in a 67.
Oxford (1-4) will look to make it two in a row when they host Greene Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

NORWICH – The undefeated Chenango Forks squad came to Canasawacta Country Club Tuesday afternoon to take on host Norwich on one of the toughest courses in the area and handled the front nine, par-36 with no trouble as they topped the Tornado 208-278.
All Blue Devils golfers shot a round in the 40’s except top medalist Kevin Matson, who turned in a scorecard showing a 39.
Norwich’s top golfer was Max Marson for Tuesday’s match, scoring a 49 on the front nine of his home course.
Parker Walsh was the Tornado’s next best golfer with a 50 while Cameron Birtch shot a 57. Nate Revoir ended the day with a 61 and youngster Logan Waters shot a 70.
Norwich (1-3) hits the Canasawacta Country Club course again Wednesday against Chenango Valley at 4 p.m.
