Joseph Maiurano talks about his candidacy for City of Norwich Mayor

NORWICH - Joseph P. Maiurano, lifelong resident of Natoli Avenue in the City of Norwich, has officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of the City of Norwich.


Maiurano is running on the Independent line of “Norwich Pride” in the General Election on Tuesday, November 5.


He has an Associate’s Degree from SUNY Broome, then attended Canisius College in Buffalo before receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Physical Education from SUNY Cortland.


Maiurano served as the 5th Ward Alderman from 2004 to 2006 and mayor of City of Norwich from 2006 to 2015.

“I have the desire, and commitment to be effective as mayor” said Maiurano, “I want to see the city as a place for businesses to invest and people to invest in residential homes in our neighborhoods.”


The deterioration of the neighborhoods, public safety, as well as lack of development and investment within the City of Norwich are among the primary concerns said Maiurano.
