13th ranked Trojans cruise in shutout win over B-G Bobcats

BAINBRIDGE – No. 13 in the state and currently undefeated Greene dominated offensively on the pitch of the Bobcats Monday afternoon as the Trojans claimed a 8-0 shut out win over Midstate Athletic Conference host Bainbridge-Guilford.
As the visiting team tallied eight goals, Greene rifled off 27 shots compared to B-G’s four taken throughout the contest. Greene led 4-0 after the first 45 minutes of play and tacked on another four goals in the second half.
Leading the scoring was the Trojans’ Scout McCumiskey, tallying three goals and delivering two assists in the game.
Teammate Alec Frair recorded two goals and Nolan Butler, Trent Rapp and Nick Shoemaker each scored one.
Prior to registering a goal of his own, Greene’s Shoemaker saved two of B-G’s shots sent his way. Kolby Finch, Shoemaker’s colleague that subbed in at the keeper position, added a save.
The Bobcats’ goalkeeper Zach Graham recorded 19 stops in the game.
Greene’s Jonny Lee, Ashton Craver, Robbie Champlain, and Riley Seeley all distributed the ball as each Trojan sent a ball that resulted in a goal. Lee joined McCumiskey with two assists in the stat column.
The Trojans (6-0-1) dropped two spots after the opening week of rankings, starting at 11 but moved to 13th in most recent New York State Class C Top 20. Greene will look to keep their record clean of a loss on Friday when they host Dryden at 7 p.m. for the first round of the Greene Boys Soccer Tournament.
Prior to the start of the 7 p.m., Windsor and Chenango Forks will meet on the pitch for the other game of the opening round. Game time for the Black Knights and the Blue Devils will take place at 5 p.m.
The two winning teams will meet Saturday at 7 p.m. while the other two will meet in the consolation game at 5 p.m.
Bainbridge-Guilford hosts Afton/Harpursville on Saturday for the next contest on the Bobcats schedule. Game time is scheduled for 10 a.m.

AFTON – It was a Baciuska family affair for the Crimson Knights as each of the three players – Braydon, Elijah and Hunter – all had a hand in the 2-1 win over Sidney Monday afternoon.
With 21:23 remaining in the first half, Afton/Harpursville struck first. Elijah and Braydon Baciuska had the brotherly connection, Elijah delivered a ball to Braydon, who then turned an attempt on goal into a 1-0 lead.
The Crimson Knights carried the one goal advantage into the intermission and for additional 17 minutes into the second before Hunter Baciuska added an insurance goal at the 28 minute mark.
Attempting to hold onto the 2-0 lead and shut out their opponents, Afton/Harpursville was unable to keep a clean sheet against Sidney as the Warriors Anthony Morris received a ball from colleague Brayan Agustin and fired it into the back of the net, cutting the home team’s lead down to one with just under nine minutes remaining.
As Sidney looked for the equalizer in the time left, Afton/Harpursville was able to hold the opposition to the one second half goal and record the Midstate Athletic Conference victory.
The Knights will look to make it two wins in a row on Saturday morning when they travel up the road to Bainbridge-Guilford for a 10 a.m. contest.
McGraw 5, Otselic Valley 1
MCGRAW – McGraw’s Jackson Card was a part of four of five goals in the home team’s 5-1 win over the visiting Otselic Valley Vikings.
Card ended the night with two goals and two assists to lead the Eagles offensive in the league victory.
According to OV’s head coach Jake Preston, it took for the Vikings squad half of the game to get going where the host McGraw team came out of the gates, ready to play.
The Eagles scored first when Card took a shot at OV’s Cody O’Hara in the goal. O’Hard made the stop but following up on the shot was McGraw’s Caleb Knickerbocker who knocked the ball in between the posts.
McGraw added another two goals – one that Card once again assisted on as he served in the free kick and Jackson Pitcher tapped home – for the 3-0 lead at the end of the first half.
The Vikings had some chances early to keep it close but could not finish those opportunities.
Otselic Valley was able to find the back of the net in in the second half as Carter Smith dribbled through the defenders and beat McGraw’s keeper Nolan Knickerbocker, cutting the deficit down to the two goals.
Card, however, took over offensively in the second 45 minutes of play, scoring two unassisted goals to bring the final of 5-1.
O’Hara and Gavin Hazzard split time in the goal but combined for 11 saves for the Vikings.
OV (0-6, 1-6) heads to Brookfield on Wednesday as the seek the first league win of the season. This is the first time to the two teams have met this year. Game time is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
