OXFORD – Kaylin Tefft of the Lady Blackhawks scored three of her team’s five goals to record a hat trick during Wednesday’s game on Oxford’s pitch against Afton/Harpursville, awarding the home team a 5-0 shut out conference win.
The Blackhawks outshot the visiting team 20-4. Afton/Harpursville’s Ashlynne Caffery and Trena Byers spilt time in the goal. The two combined for 15 saves in the loss as Byers recorded eight and Caffery stopped the other seven shots.
With just 8:43 taking off the clock to start the game, the Blackhawks’ Raven Brophy-Quintana took a pass from Shane Backer-Bush and put the ball past the Afton/Harpursville keeper for the first goal of the game. From there, Oxford opened up the scoring floodgates as Tefft scored the next three.
