Lady Trojans fall to last second goal by Spartans
ENDWELL – Both teams fended off their opponents attempts throughout the game as the hosts Maine-Endwell and the visiting Lady Trojans of Greene were seconds away from heading into overtime. With little time on the clock, M-E was awarded a penalty corner.
Dani Parker of the host Spartans took the corner, serving a pass into teammate Anna Castaldo. As the time ticked down to zero, Castaldo quickly fired a shot attempt and was able to get the ball into the back of the cage, passing by Greene’s Brooke Austin for the 1-0 win Wednesday night.
Austin, who is the stout keeper for the Lady Trojans, made eight saves in the match to keep her team in the running to take down one of the top teams in the Section IV field hockey world.
