No. 12 Trojans put up nine in win over B-G

UV takes two road wins over the weekend
GREENE – Ranked number 12 in the New York State for Class C Boys Soccer, the Greene Trojans improved to 9-1-1 on the season after receiving four goals from Terriek Brown in the home win over Bainbridge-Guilford in Monday night.
Brown opened the scoring with back-to-back goals within the first 13 minutes of the Midstate Athletic Conference match, both coming from passes made by Alec Frair.
Frair netted the third goal for the Trojans off a through ball from teammate Calob Davenport. Greene continued to score in the first half, tallying another three before the halftime break.
Ryan Porter continued his scoring streak, recording the only goal for the Bobcats, putting his first half shot into the back of the net. The Trojans, however, went into the half with a 6-1 lead.
Out of the break, Greene showed no signs for slowing down as they added another three in the half – two scored by Brown to give him his four for the night.
Scout McCumiskey had two goals in the win while Alex Trunovic and Davenport each added their own to give the home Trojans nine for the night.
Greene took a total of 22 shots, outshooting the visiting Bobcats by 18 for the game.
B-G’s keeper made 12 saves in the contest.
Greene currently sits at the top of the MAC standings as they head to Delhi – the number two team in the standings – Wednesday for a showdown on the hill. The two teams met earlier this season and the game ended with the Trojans coming out on top 9-0.

AFTON – The Storm of Unadilla Valley played back-to-back road games on Friday and Saturday and came away with two wins, placing UV at number four in the Midstate Athletic Conference Boys Soccer standings.
First the Storm took down Sidney Friday afternoon by a score of 3-0 and moved on to play Afton/Harpursville Saturday morning. Unadilla Valley also returned home with a 3-1 win over the Crimson Knights.
A sluggish start after coming off Friday’s game, the Storm saw a misclear by four different UV players. The ball ended up in the goal after the miscues by the UV defenders, resulting in an own goal to give Afton/Harpursville an 1-0 lead early in the first half.
The Storm rallied back as Dylan Nichols found an open Josh Meade waiting on the far post. Meade then fired it back the Knights keeper – Riley Livermore – to recorded the first varsity goal of his career.
Nichols, who set UV’s goals scored school record earlier this season, continued to added to his total as he recorded number 21 and 22 for the season in the second half. Meade returned the favor from the earlier goal by delivering an assist on Nichols first goal. Devon Fairchild, who has distributed the ball very well this season, passed the ball to his team for the other.
Livermore made 13 stops between the posts for Afton/Harpursville. His opposition in the other goal, UV’s Brandon Kneale, finished with three saves.
The first game of the two-game road trip was held at Sidney and the Storm struck early. Nichols made a quick play in front of the Sidney Keeper after the long cross from Fairchild in the first minute of play. UV’s leading scorer then tapped the ball into the net with his heel for the very early 1-0 lead.
Nichols followed up with a second goal on the long assist from colleague Drew Emrich for the two goal advantage on the road.
Later in the first half, Fairchild took his turn, rifling a shot attempt into the net from a Josh Meade pass, scoring the third and final goal of Friday’s match.
As the Storm’s defense allowed Sidney nine shots on goal, Kneale posted the shutout for the Storm by stopping all Warriors attempts.
Unadilla Valley was scheduled to play the third game in four days but due to the weather, the game was postponed. The Storm will now travel to Walton on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. for the make up match.
